At 8, Antonio was airlifted to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals in a life-threatening diabetic coma. Today, he’s an active 10-year-old who loves sports, swimming, and trying new recipes. With support from his dedicated care team, he manages Type 1 diabetes while staying on the move. His mother says, “UCSF is a safe zone for us, a place we know where we will get the answers and materials we need.” Antonio is happiest playing his Nintendo Switch, eating good food, and spending time with friends and family.
