Kiernan’s journey with UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals began at birth, when he spent his early days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and continued with a leukemia diagnosis a few years later. His mother says, “Most of the nurses…felt like family. They comforted us through long hospitalizations and treatment, all the while maintaining their professionalism and warmth in hard times.” Over the past two years, Kiernan’s care team has supported him through treatment and long hospital stays. He loves cooking shows, Mary Poppins, anything related to Christmas -- and his absolute favorite food, mac and cheese.
