New Year, New Building

This story has been updated here.

At UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals, world-renowned pediatric specialists offer hope and healing at leading-edge facilities tailored to children’s unique needs. Thanks to the generous support of our philanthropic community, we are upgrading our Oakland campus to set a new level of excellence in pediatric care.

Our new six-story outpatient center will open its doors this spring, bringing advanced technologies and upgraded clinic space to the children who visit us for outpatient care nearly 230,000 times every year. With an additional 89,000 square feet of exam rooms, treatment facilities, and family support services, the center will house specialties including:

  • cardiology;
  • dermatology;
  • outpatient surgery;
  • physical rehabilitation;
  • neurology;
  • and neurosurgery.

With this new extension, the facility will be the East Bay’s largest pediatric specialty care center built just for kids, offering streamlined navigation for families who are consulting with our award-winning specialists. Lab facilities will also be enhanced and expanded, allowing for more life-saving pediatric research.

Construction of the new outpatient center building is the first phase of a 10-year expansion project that includes rebuilding and modernizing the hospital to meet seismic regulations and improve facilities for patients and their families.
