A New Era in Children's Health

For more than 100 years, UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland has cared for generations of children and families across the Bay Area. In 2031, we will take our Oakland campus to new heights with the opening of a seven-story hospital designed to expand access to world-class pediatric care and equip our health system for the next century. The facility will increase capacity, accommodate advanced technology, and create spaces that promote healing, comfort, and connection.

Reimagining Care for All Kids

Breakthroughs born in Oakland have shaped pediatric medicine worldwide. Now we're creating a hospital that reflects the excellence our patients and providers deserve. From emergency care to behavioral health, the new hospital will provide specialized spaces and services tailored to meet the unique needs of children and families.

ER services

Expanded Emergency Care

Double the current space, built for trauma and rapid response.

Operating room

Advanced Surgical Suites

Seven new operating rooms equipped for complex procedures.

NICU
Family-Centered NICU

Private spaces that support families from the very beginning.

Behavioral Health services

Dedicated Mental Health Unit

A restorative environment for youth facing mental health crises.

The revitalization of our Oakland campus is about much more than buildings. The investment in our community will allow us to improve pediatric care and expand capacity to help more children who need specialized care.
