Project Cheer Holiday Toy Drive
Make the holidays special for kids at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals by spreading the joy of toys.
Every year our Child Life team hosts a holiday toy drive to provide presents for our patients and their siblings at no cost, meaning families have one less worry while their child heals.
Together we can make sure that the joy of giving is felt through the hospitals and our community:
Project Cheer Virtual Toy Drive
The Project Cheer Virtual Toy Drive provides funds for our staff to keep shelves stocked with toys. Make a donation or create your own fundraising page to share with your colleagues, friends, and family.
Donate Toys
We are hosting a special afternoon for toy deliveries where you can drive right up to our hospitals, and our team will help you unload your donation. We are accepting new and unwrapped toys.
When: Saturday, December 12, 1-3pm
Where: Drop off toys on either side of the Bay:
Oakland*: 747 52nd Street, Oakland, CA 94609 - The drop-off zone is located in the front of our hospital.
San Francisco: 1975 4th St, San Francisco, CA 94158 - The drop-off zone is in the circular driveway in front of the Children's entrance off 4th Street. Follow signs for the Children’s Emergency Department.
*As we navigate ongoing hospital construction and limited storage space in Oakland, gift cards and crowdfunding contributions are especially helpful, allowing us to purchase toys, activities, and comfort items based on our patients’ current needs as well as our storage constraints.
Donation Guidelines
We CANNOT Accept the below items:
- Used items: Hospital policy requires that all donated toys and dolls be brand new, unopened, and unused in order to ensure the safety of our patients.
- Oversized toys such as bikes, giant teddy bears, ride-on vehicles, large dollhouses, etc.
- Gift wrapped items (even for the holidays)
- Glass, ceramics, or other breakables
- Flowers or live plants
- Any items that promote violent and aggressive behavior, including video games
- Items with religious themes
- VHS tapes and DVDs
- Toy collections or collectibles, (even if they have been well-preserved)
- Food items, including baking sets
