Meet Kaleianani
Just before Christmas, 2-year-old Kaleianani – a happy, fun-loving toddler – ended up in urgent care multiple times with symptoms of an ear infection. It didn’t take doctors at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland long to reach the right diagnosis: auto-immune encephalitis.
Mom, Lokelani, never thought her daughter would be one of the thousands of patients at the same hospital she supports in her leadership role at Bank of America’s Charitable Foundation. "For years, I have been inspired by each and every story I’ve heard about the amazing work these healthcare heroes do day in and day out. Now UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals is our North Star, leading us to a positive outcome."
Even though she’s only 3, Kaleianani hopes that one day there will be a cure for all kids with auto-immune encephalitis.
