Meet Penny
Penny was just a year old when she was diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma. By that time, the cancer had already spread across Penny’s little body, and she was deathly ill. For two years, Penny underwent multiple rounds of treatment involving teams from across UCSF. But through it all, Penny became a beacon of resilience and joy, energy and passion. Now cancer-free, Penny loves art, swimming, and riding her bike, and is even learning to skateboard. With dreams of competing in the Paralympics and becoming a doctor someday, Penny approaches her medical journey with incredible spirit, even donning medical scrubs for her school pictures.
