Oliviya’s cancer diagnosis came just after she turned 4. In the months prior, her parents, Chelseh and Garland, started noticing strange symptoms, including leg and stomach pains and extreme fatigue.

At the local emergency room, doctors suggested that Oliviya’s symptoms were just growing pains. Two days later, the pain became worse, so Chelseh and Garland took their daughter back to the hospital. Bloodwork revealed a devastating diagnosis: Oliviya had acute lymphoblastic leukemia. She was referred to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals where she has received life-saving care for the past two years.

"UCSF means so much to us," shares Chelseh. "They were incredible with our daughter. They helped us through one of the hardest things of our lives. They were there to guide us and save our baby girl. They made sure she felt as comfortable and as normal as possible given her situation."
